The plan was simple: head to the coast to beat the heat for a couple nights. Nothing fancy, just camping. And since I just climbed off an 8,500 ft (2,590 m) peak with 40 lbs (18.14 kg) of gear on my back, I thought I’d be living the high life by sleeping in the “big tent” on a cot for a couple of nights.
Things did not pan out as expected.
No, that’s not true. Things panned out exactly as I expected. With no reservation and hoping there would be a walk-up only space available I kinda knew this plan was going to be a bust. Luckily, we were able to have the inn keeper switch off the vacancy sign as we claimed the last room at the Bodega Bay Inn.
Every person on the planet had the same idea and is currently in Bodega Bay. Every other city must be devoid of human life because they are all here. All people are here.
Tomorrow: Napa

The Bell Tower: A seven year old boy from Bodega Bay lost his life when he was attacked by robbers while on a trip in Italy. He lives on as seven people were the recipients of life saving transplants from this boy. These bells are all from Italy and we’re sent for this monument as rememberance. That bell in the middle? Forged at the same foundry as the bells at the Vatican and that bell was even blessed by Pope John Paul II.

In other news: In really starting to show my age.
